Dr.Sareen Sarah John finished her Post Graduation in Microbiology from Mahatma Gandhi University in 1999. After taking 4 years break from studies following marriage and motherhood, Sareen completed her Post Graduate Certificate course in Industrial / Institutional Food Service Management with First Rank in the State of Kerala from Food Craft Institute, Kalamassery in 2004. Sareen completed her M.Phil in Food & Industrial Microbiology from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu in 2006. Joined Cochin University of Science & Technology for Doctoral Research as Junior Research Fellow in 2008. Department of Science & Technology, Government of India awarded DST-Women Scientist(A) Scheme for continuing the Doctoral Research at Cochin University. Sareen obtained Ph.D in Environmental Microbiology & Biotechnology in 2015. She obtained ASRB NET in Agricultural Microbiology in 2018.
Joined Union Christian College, Aluva as Assistant Professor during June 2015. Sareen visited Indiana University of Pennsylvania as Exchange Scholar / Post Doctoral Fellow and received advanced training in Protein Expression Studies & Genomics. She has 10 publications in International Peer Reviewed Journals and 28 Conference proceedings to her credit.
Apart from her Interest in Microbiology, other research interests include Gene Expression studies, CRISPR Protein purification and expression, Toxicology studies (Cell lines: Fish, Insect & Human), Nanotechnology, Biocompatibility studies etc.
